Teamwork Highlights Nado Premier Club Win

Coach Manny Neves’ nationally-ranked boys under-13 year old premier soccer team notched it’s seventh win of Presidio League Premier Division regular season competition, improving their record to 7-1-2 overall.

Last Saturday’s match with Carlsbad Lightning Premier marked a milestone achievement for the club in which seven different players scored to propel Nado to a one-sided 7-0 win against a team they had tied earlier in the season.  While offensively, Nado appeared unstoppable, it was the defense that made an equally impressive statement in the shutout victory.  Anchored by Coronado’s own, August Melden, in goal, defenders Alec Randolph (Chula Vista), Ian Hurlburt (Coronado), Avner Bohon (Imperial Beach), and Max Ippolito (La Jolla) completely shutdown Carlsbad’s offensive effort.  Offensively, Nado’s midfield and attack played a near picture-perfect match.  Forwards Lance Sallee (Chula Vista) and Oscar Aguilar (Chula Vista) each scored on a couple of absolute firecracker shots from 25-yards and 35-yards, respectively.  Midfielders Brendan Murphy (Chula Vista), Joseph Picone (Chula Vista), Garrett Herrmann (Coronado), and Jorge Martinez (Coronado) each found the back of the net in the contest, each goal being set up by flawlessly unselfish passing from fellow teammates.  Defenseman Ippolito pounded home the seventh exclamation point in Nado’s rout.  Contributing to the overall solid team play of Nado’s youngest premier-level club were sure-footed midfielders Joseph Daluz (San Diego), Aidan Osborn (Chula Vista), and forwards Andres Mendoza (Chula Vista), Tomas Braniff (Coronado), and Ricardo Serrano (Chula Vista).

With last Saturday’s win, the Nado BU13 boys remain in a dogfight for the division lead against a Chula Vista Pumas Premier club with just 2 games remaining.  Nado bested Pumas earlier in the season 1-0, and a win against Tiffinys Pachuca this Saturday would line up a winner-take-all final match between Nado and Pumas on Sunday, 4 November.  Come out to the Coronado Cays Sunday at 3:45pm to catch the action and cheer your local club boys to a premier division title!
