Nado Select is the competitive program of CYSL. Select players are taught technical and tactical aspects of the game of soccer by a professional Coaching Staff led by ex-professional soccer player and USSF A licensed coach, Manny Neves.

Player skill development occurs in a disciplined and positive environment. In addition to soccer skills, we teach values such as teamwork, respect, leadership, and integrity. Each player is encouraged to achieve a high level of success, which is accomplished through training, team camps, games, and tournaments. Nado Select provides a unique environment, with access to top training facilities and coaches. We compete in the Presidio Soccer League, which is one of the top soccer leagues of the Nation. The goal of the competitive program is to develop players and teams as Youngers to top level, competitive teams as Olders.

Coronado Youth Soccer League recognizes that there may be situations in which a player (u13 and below) shows promise as a soccer player and has an interest in trying to achieve a higher skill level by training with Nado Select coaches, but has not yet reached the level of play of the other members of a given team. In such cases, the Director of Coaching and Coach may consider allowing a player to train with a team as a developmental player. Please contact us at info@nadosoccer.com if you have any questions about the Nado Select Development Program.

All competitive training is held at the Cays fields Monday through Friday starting in April and running through February for teams participating in State Cup. Team practices are grouped Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday, with additional Goalie and Circuit training. CYSL provides financial assistance for families in need. To learn more about getting financial assistance, please click here.

For more information, please review all documents availble under Competitive on our downloads page.

Players transitioning into the Nado Select Olders Program are challenged in a unique, competitive environment. The aim is to have players reach their greatest potential, in preparation for high school soccer, 4-year college, or even professional play. They have access to top training on exceptional fields. Teams participate in quality tournaments not only for exposure, but to ensure players are challenged in a competitive environment that helps them reach new levels of play. Tryouts are held in April, although players are always welcome to have a trial if they have missed our tryout dates. We look forward to seeing you out on the field!

The Nado Select Youngers Program is heavily focused on developing the skills necessary for success on the soccer field. Soccer is a dynamic sport with characteristics such as creativity, teamwork, discipline, and endurance, all of which are attributes that any successful athlete will need.

The Coaching Staff of the Youngers Program has an expertise with coaching youth players. They place an emphasis on teaching technical skill in a positive sports environment, while at the same time ensuring that players are having fun and developing a passion for the beautiful game of soccer.

The most important period for developing the correct technique for skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting are from ages 6 to 12. Youth that do not participate in a competitive program during this period will fall behind their piers in regard to the technical and tactical aspects of the game.

Nado Select’s aim is to develop players and teams during this most crucial timeframe, so that these youth may compete at the next level as young adults. Achievements of a youth player can carry on to even greater success as a high school, collegiate, or even professional player. The Youngers Program feeds into the Olders Program, which is led by a coaching staff determined in helping players reach their greatest potential.

Coronado Youth Soccer League recognizes that there may be situations in which a player (U13 and below) shows promise as a soccer player and has an interest in trying to achieve a higher skill level by training with Nado Select coaches, but has not yet reached the level of play of the other members of a given team.
