Prior to coaching, Joao Brantuas grew up playing soccer in Lisbon, Portugal (his country of origin) as well as the United States. As a young adult, he had the opportunity to play NCAA Division One at United States International University under Coach Leonardo Cuellar, Mexican International, where he was eventually named MVP.

Since his playing days, Joao has spent over 20 years coaching soccer and has led many teams to great success in both league and tournament play. Key contributors to his success as a coach are his enthusiasm and ability to communicate the game to players.
