The club endeavors to handle the administrative aspects of putting together competitive teams, including organizing tryouts, player registration, game scheduling, field set-up, collecting fees and paying coaches. Coaches and teams set goals for the year, and determine practice schedules and tournament participation.
CYSL provides some financial assistance in the form of a match/credit program. Please see the Financial Assistance information below.
The league strives to offer the best possible soccer experience for our children. We have developed a Code of Conduct that each parent, player and coach must sign. These rules are set in order to ensure the highest standards of sportsmanship, and moral and ethical conduct. As members of the Club, we are expected to understand, follow and uphold these rules.
We recognize that some families may be limited in their ability to meet the financial obligation required to participate in competitive soccer, and therefore we have created a Financial Assistance (FA) program. This program was designed to provide a limited number of Select players (U11 and older only) an opportunity to offset their financial obligation by providing services to CYSL.
Parents and older players can field marshal at CYSL tournaments, referee for CYSL at designated games, and perform other CYSL-approved work projects to help earn credits to be applied toward the players’ fees. For each dollar credit earned, CYSL will match the amount up to $350 per FA player per season. The credits earned and matching credits are solely for the purpose of paying CYSL registration fees, NOT team fees for tournaments. Credits are available only for CYSL-appointed duties, not for specific team functions or team fundraising events.
Due to the lower cost of the younger age groups, no applications for FA will be accepted for players on U10 and younger teams. FA applications are available below; they must be completed and turned in to the address on the form by the due date indicated. Late applications will be considered on a space available basis. Applications will be reviewed by a small committee and judged solely on need. All applications will be kept strictly confidential. The CYSL Board will notify recipients.
If a Financial Assistance recipient chooses to leave CYSL before the season has concluded, then the recipient forfeits all FA received and is responsible to pay CYSL and team fees in full in order to request transfer.
U12 and older players requiring FA are strongly encouraged to take the referee class offered by CalSouth; once certified, they can referee games in order to help pay their fees.

The preseason training begins in April and runs thru mid-June. All teams break from mid-June til after the 4th of July holiday. Regular Season training will consist of two 1-1/2 hour practices per week for all age groups, a skills session (circuit training) for U8-U10 every other week, and up to six scrimmages with other clubs for U11-U14. Regular season training officially begins after the 4th of July holiday thru the end of State Cup.
A four-day mandatory team training camp is held in the summer during June and July timeframe. Nado Select Team Camp dates vary each summer and are posted in the SELECT CALENDAR. Because these camps are run exclusively for the Nado Select teams based on pre-arranged dates, there are no make-up camps or fee credits for missing camp. The cost of the team camp is included in the registration fees.
All Nado Select teams play regular season games in the Presidio Soccer League and the SDDA (San Diego Developmental Academy). Schedules will be available by mid-August on the Presidio website (www.presidiosoccer.com) and will be posted on the site in the specific age group links on the nadosoccer website. The regular season generally runs from late August or early September to mid-November.
The Nado Select Program is heavily focused on developing the skills necessary for success on the soccer field. Soccer is a dynamic sport with characteristics such as creativity, teamwork, discipline, and endurance, all of which are attributes that any successful athlete will need.
The coaching staff of teams U8-U13 have expertise with coaching youth players. Emphasis is placed on teaching technical skills in a positive sports environment, while at the same time ensuring that players are having fun and developing a passion for the beautiful game of soccer.
The most important period for developing the correct technique for skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting are from ages 6 to 12. Youth that do not participate in a competitive program during this period will fall behind their peers in regard to the technical and tactical aspects of the game.
Nado Select’s aim is to develop players and teams during this most crucial timeframe so that these youth may compete at the next level as young adults. Achievements of a youth player can carry on to even greater success as a high school, collegiate, or even professional player.
Players transitioning into the older age groups are challenged in a unique, competitive environment. The aim is to have players reach their greatest potential, in preparation for high school soccer, 4-year college, or professional play. They have access to top training on exceptional fields. Teams participate in quality tournaments not only for exposure, but to ensure players are challenged in a competitive environment that helps them reach new levels of play.
We look forward to seeing you out on the field!
Coaches will teach soccer and stress the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline and hard work, enabling players to reach their full potential. Adequate playing time helps ensure the development of the player; therefore roster limits are capped so that playing time goals can be achieved whenever possible.
Manny Neves is a USSF A-licensed coach who provides an intense, yet fun, soccer camp. As schedules permit, the team coaches, as well as other coaches within the club assist him. Team camp is a great way for players to get back into soccer shape and will help the team get the season started on the right note.
Welcome to Coronado Youth Soccer League. Nado Select is the competitive program of CYSL. Select players are taught technical and tactical aspects of the game of soccer by a professional Coaching Staff led by former professional soccer players and USSF A licensed coach, Manny Neves.
Player skill development occurs in a disciplined and positive environment. In addition to soccer skills, we teach values such as teamwork, respect, leadership, and integrity. Each player is encouraged to achieve a high level of success, which is accomplished through training, team camps, games, and tournaments. Nado Select provides a unique environment, with access to top training facilities and coaches. We compete in the Presidio Soccer League and the SDDA (San Diego Developmental Academy), which are among the top soccer leagues of the Nation. The goal of the competitive program is to develop players and teams to their highest potential.
