In the last weeks of September San Diego finally hit summer temperatures and Nado soccer moms knew exactly what was needed for a hot September day at soccer practice – a Water Balloon Fight! They showed up prepared, with over 150 water balloons for the kids and 2 super soakers for the coaches.
The GU8 and GU9, who have been battling it out against each other on the soccer field since July for practice, got to have a little payback by hitting their coaches and teammates with water balloons. Both coaches, Jerry Ruiz and Beesan Abder-Ruhman, were soaked by the end of the water balloon fight. Even coach Kiko Medina, an innocent bystander whose fields are right next to the GU8/GU9, got hit.
Both teams are in the middle of the Presidio season. The GU8 are currently tied for 2nd place with 3 wins and 5 ties (U8 Standings). The GU9 are in the middle of the bracket with 4 wins, 1 tie, and 3 losses (U9 Standings). There is still a lot of time left in the season and coaches Jerry and Beesan have seen immense improvement in both teams and are looking forward to finishing up the season strongly.
